Louisiana Soccer Honored With USC Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Women’s Soccer team was one of 384 college teams recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as the Team Academic Award winners were announced by the organization on Thursday.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2020-21 academic year.
The award for Louisiana was its third straight and 12th overall since the program’s inception in 2000. The Ragin’ Cajuns earned the Team Academic Award in the following years: 2003, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020.
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.
A total of 607 soccer teams (223 men, 384 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 academic year. Of that total, 92 schools had both their men’s and women’s programs recognized.
