BOONE, N.C. – Breckyn Monteith knocked in a goal in the 17th munute and Katie Fuller added an insurance goal in the second half to lift Appalachian State to a 2-0 victory over the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Women’s Soccer team in a Sun Belt Conference match on Thursday at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.

Louisiana (6-9-2, 3-4-2 Sun Belt), playing its final regular-season road match of season, held a 15-9 advantage in shots including 11 on frame, but was stopped by App State (5-10-1, 1-8-0 Sun Belt) goalkeeper Kerry Eagleston.

Monteith scored her sixth goal of the season after taking a crossing pass from Hayley Boyles and scoring past Louisiana goalkeeper Libby Harper to the upper left corner of the goal.

Louisiana took nine shots in the opening half, placing six on frame as Savanna Young had three attempts from the top of the 18-yard box saved by Eagleston with Alyssa Abbott from the top of the box knocked away.

App State added an insurance goal in the 57th minute when Kacie Fuller placed a shot past Harper for her first goal of the season.
