LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Golf coach Theo Sliman added his third newcomer to the 2021-22 roster when he announced on Tuesday the signing of Burke Alford to a National Letter of Intent.
Alford (Shreveport, La./Loyola College Prep), ranked No. 4 overall among state of 2021 Louisiana prospects, joins a class which includes the state’s top prospect Eli Ortego (Lafayette, La./Ascension Episcopal School) and José Dibildox (Sautillo, Mexico/Odessa College).
"We are very excited to announce the addition of Burke Alford to our program," said Sliman. "What grabbed our attention with Burke was his desire, his hard working mindset coupled with his athleticism and ceiling. He is an outstanding student and has the character and humbleness that mirrors our program. We greatly look forward to having Burke on campus this Fall."
Alford posted four top-10 finishes on the Louisiana/Texas junior golf circuit during the 2020-21 season, including a victory at the Tangle Ridge Shootout last November. Alford added a third-place finish at the TJGT Elite Finale and placed sixth overall at the LJGT Squire Creek held last summer.
Alford, who is also an honors graduate from Loyola Prep, finished 14th overall at the 2021 LHSAA Division III state meet held at Carencro’s The Farm d’Allie.
