Louisiana Athletics Well-Represented in Sun Belt Academic Honors
Department-wide 200 total student-athletes received recognition for academic success
LAFAYETTE – A combined total of 200 student-athletes represented Louisiana Athletics on the 2019-20 Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List and Academic Honor Roll, recognizing their accomplishments inside the classroom during the most recently completed academic year.
Louisiana placed 110 student-athletes on the SBC Commissioner’s List and 90 student-athletes on the SBC Academic Honor Roll.
The Commissioner’s List honors student-athletes who maintained a 3.5 grade point average or better during the 2019-20 academic year, while the Academic Honor Roll honors those student-athletes who maintained a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49.
Each of Louisiana’s athletic programs placed at least one student-athlete on both lists. Five programs had 20-plus student-athletes honored: football (28), baseball (27), women’s track and field/cross country (26), soccer (23) and softball (22).
Among the Academic Honor Roll recipients, the Ragin’ Cajuns football squad placed the most with 21. With a total of 17 student-athletes named to the Commissioner’s List, the Louisiana Baseball squad held department-high honors, followed closely by soccer and women’s track and field/cross country with 16 each.
Nearly 2,500 Sun Belt Conference student-athletes were named to the Commissioner’s List and Academic Honor Roll for the 2019-20 academic year. Those recognized include 1,378 student-athletes on the Commissioner’s List and 1,024 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll list.
