Louisiana Athletics Announces Community Honda Outstanding Graduates

Football’s Cameron Solomon and Volleyball’s Avery Breaux recognized as top 2020 Fall grads

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Football’s Cameron Solomon and Louisiana Volleyball’s Avery Breaux have been recognized as the Community Honda Outstanding Graduates for the 2020 Fall semester.

The award is given to one male and one female student-athlete who went above and beyond in the classroom in the most recent semester.

Breaux was the starting setter for Ragin’ Cajuns’ Volleyball team during the 2020 season, appearing in every match (22) and set (78) that Louisiana played during the regular season portion of the campaign before earning First Team All-Sun Belt honors.

A speech pathology and audiology major, Breaux graduated with a 3.71 GPA and plans to attend graduate school and obtain a Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.

"From the moment she arrived on campus, Avery formulated both personal and academic goals and constantly worked to find solutions to problems that she may have encountered along the way," Breaux’s academic counselor Tambria Bradford said. "Avery is always focused on being the best and never allows anyone to distract her from her goals. Her willingness to go beyond her role as a student-athlete was apparent through her involvement with organizations on- or off-campus. Every semester, Avery continued to succeed and earn academic honors while shouldering the pressures of leading a Division I Women’s Volleyball Program."

Solomon was a safety for the nationally-ranked Ragin’ Cajuns’ Football team, appearing in 10 games and totaling 26 tackles and one interception. A general studies major with a concentration in Behavioral Sciences, Solomon is planning on pursuing his MBA while returning for a final season of football.

"In Cameron’s time as an undergraduate student-athlete, Cameron has always been responsible, mature, and humble," Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services Phillip Pinkston said. "Additionally, he has grown as a leader, personally and professionally. Cameron values the importance of academics and learning and looks forward to continuing his educational journey in the MBA program at UL. Cameron has proven to be a valuable leader both on and off the field and a true positive example of a student-athlete."

Louisiana Athletics thanks Community Honda for recognizing and honoring Ragin’ Cajuns student-athletes throughout the season.
