In this Q&A feature article, you will "Get to KneauxRagin‘ Cajuns golfer Justin Caldwell. The Ponchatoula, La., native, who comes from a golfing family, has appeared in nine events during his career at Louisiana. Caldwell has represented the Ragin’ Cajuns twice at the Louisiana Classics and looks to get back on the course when the season resumes for the 2020-21 campaign.
 


What has become your daily routine during quarantine?
JC:
 "Playing golf, working out, playing ping pong, doing homework, swimming, spending time with family, and growing in my faith."

What has Head Coach Sliman’s message to your team been during this unprecedented time?
JC: "Just to stay safe and use this time to spend with family and strengthen our faith."

How have you and your teammates stuck together remotely during this challenging time period?
JC: "We have used this time to meet three times a week and stay connected."

An important question: what is your favorite food?
JC: "Sushi."

Take us back to when you decided to come to the University and become a Ragin’ Cajun. What about the school helped you make that decision?
JC: "The people over here are so welcoming and make you feel like family. I love the fact that everyone in the community and in athletics check on me on a weekly basis to see how I’m doing."

What is your earliest sports memory?
JC: "When my family lived in Kenner and my dad ran Chateau Country Club, I would hit plastic golf balls in the house with my brother."

Growing up, your sports hero was who? And why?
JC: "David Toms because growing up I looked at him as a Louisiana boy who was very successful as a professional golfer. Also off the course, he carries himself incredibly and glad to call him a friend."

What is your major, and what about it do you like most?
JC: "Business management and I can take the degree I receive to use in a broad manner to seek many different jobs."

What class have you enjoyed most at the University so far?
JC: "Business Law, because I learned a lot about the legal aspect of business."

What are your plans after your academic and athletic career at Louisiana is done?
JC: "I want to play professionally and see wherever God takes me in my career after UL."
