VERO BEACH, Fla. – This time, it was Peter Hinnant’s day to shine for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Golf team.

One day after teammate Charlie Flynn tied his career low round and 36-hole total, Hinnant carded a 5-under-par 67 while setting a career-low, 54-hole total in the process and leading Louisiana to an 11th-place finish at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate on Monday at Quail Valley Golf Club.

Playing one man down due to injury, Louisiana posted a team score of 1-under-par 287 in the final round to finish at 855 overall and one stroke behind Big 10 member Rutgers in the 16-team field. No. 11-ranked Kansas – the first-day leader – claimed the team title at 829 overall with No. 31 Kent State finishing second (836) followed by No. 28-ranked and host Michigan State (841), Toledo (842), Memphis (843) and 24th-ranked Northwestern (843).

Hinnant posted a 2-under 34 on the back nine which was aided by an eagle at the par-5, 530-yard No. 14 before adding a second eagle in the round at the par-5, 622-yard No. 3 and going 3-under 33 on the front.

Flynn, who posted a 6-under-par 66 in Sunday’s opening round, recorded a 2-over-par 74 in the final round to finish tied for 19th overall at 5-under 211. Freshman Eli Ortego recorded a final round score of 1-under 71 for the Ragin’ Cajuns while Hudson Dubinski posted a 3-over 75.
