Golf: Flynn Completes First Round of 121st Annual U.S. Amateur

Junior tied for 61st in 312-player field; will tee off at 12:45 p.m. CDT on Tuesday

VERONA, Pa. – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns golfer Charlie Flynn birdied three of his final six holes and recorded a round of 1-over-par 71 to finish in a tie for 61st-place after the opening round of the 121st U.S. Amateur Golf Championships on Monday at Longue Vue Club.
 
Flynn, who will tee off the second round at 12:45 p.m. CDT from Oakmont Country Club, recorded a birdie on the front nine on the par-5, 535-yard No. 8 and was at 2-over-38 at the turn. The Alexandria native and one of three Louisiana natives in the 312-player field notched birdies at No. 13 and 15, and after recording double bogey at the par-4, No. 17, birdied the final hole to finish at 1-under-33 on the back nine.
 
Flynn finished eight strokes off the first-round lead which was set by Jacob Bridgeman of Inman, S.C.
