Former Baseball Coach & AD: About Mel Didier from wife Elena + Funeral Arrangements InfoDear Friends & Family, Please forgive me IF I may have sent Article yesterday (9/13). I realize this is not a very personal way to let you ALL know that Mel Didier, Sr. took his final journey on Sunday evening, September 10th – at his home in Phoenix, AZ. Amazingly, he recently told me that he wanted “just you and me, honeybun – that’s how it’s always been, just you and me”…… AND SO IT WAS !!! I believe the article is self explanatory EXCEPT for the fact that – as his spouse of 40 years – I can attest, first hand – that Mel had the Biggest – Kindest Heart ……always ready to help people become better and stronger Students, Players, Family-Oriented, On & Off the Field Pillars of their Community. He was an extremely knowledgeable Coach, Administrator – Developer of raw talent in football & baseball; terrific motivational speaker. Should I go “on and on” then it becomes what Mel did not like “bragging”. I truly wish that I could personally speak to everyone – I know you understand that it’s impossible right now – lots of organizing ……. Due to “red tape” with mortuary and waiting on documents ….. Father Eric at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Scottsdale, Arizona – has agreed to perform the Funeral Service on Monday, September 25 at 11:00 am To quote a dear dear baseball friend ….. we never referred to Mel just as Mel – but rather as Mel & Elena – I’m beyond proud and a far stronger person “thanks to the Love of My Life” – 40 years and counting !! Special Thanks to each and every one of you for Great Memories … Fondest Regards, Elena Didier (Mrs. Mel Didier, Sr.) Sent to the Athletic Network by Bruce Brown. Thanks, Bruce. * * * * * * Elena reply to AN email on 9/14 The Obituary is being finalized – I brought typed draft to funeral home today.
