Football: Louisiana Climbs to No. 19 in Latest College Football Playoff Poll

Ragin’ Cajuns reach highest ranking in the poll in program history

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Football continued to climb in the nation’s premiere college football poll, checking in at No. 19 in the latest College Football Playoff Top 25.

The program already made a huge move in the rankings earlier this week, coming in at No. 17 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today/Amyway Coaches Poll. Sunday’s rankings mark the highest the team has ever been in the modern era in both polls.

In its last outing, Louisiana was able to overcome miserable conditions in Boone, N.C., to secure a 24-21 win over Appalachian State. With the win, the program has now defeated every team in the Sun Belt under head coach Billy Napier.

Louisiana now shifts its focus to the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 19, against No. 11 Coastal Carolina. The title game is slated to kickoff at 11 a.m. CST and will be broadcast on either ESPN or ESPN2.
