LAFAYETTE – Coming off a stellar performance in which he helped guide Louisiana to its third-straight Sun Belt Conference West Division title, senior quarterback Levi Lewis has been named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week.

Lewis is the eighth Ragin’ Cajun to pick up a weekly honor from the conference this year and is the first Louisiana quarterback to win a weekly award since Andre Nunez did so on Oct. 15, 2018.

The team’s eight selections during the 2020 season are the most since it had eight during the 2013 campaign.

A native of Baton Rouge, Lewis had a monster game against South Alabama on Saturday, Nov. 14, completing 21 of his 31 attempts for 252 yards and a season-high three touchdowns, just the fourth time in his career he recorded three passing scores in a single game. Louisiana is now 14-1 when he throws for two or more touchdowns.

On the year, the field general has thrown for 1,880 yards, which leads the Sun Belt, and 13 touchdowns, which is tied for the most in the Sun Belt.

No. 24 Louisiana wraps up its three-game home stand on Saturday, Nov. 21, when it welcomes Central Arkansas for a non-conference showdown on Senior Day. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on ESPN.

Availability of single-game tickets for Saturday’s contest will be communicated by the Department of Athletics as quickly as possible.
