LAFAYETTE – After putting on a dazzling performance in Louisiana’s 38-10 victory over South Alabama, sophomore running back Chris Smith was one of four players named to this week’s Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll, the Louisville Sports Commission announced on Monday.

Smith is joined on this week’s honor roll by Michael Carter (UNC), Justin Hall (Ball State) and Elijah Moore (Ole Miss).

The Louisville, Miss., native had a big day out of the backfield against the Jaguars, matching a career high with 99 rushing yards and notching his first rushing touchdown of the season, a 22-yard scamper. He also caught one pass for 10 yards.

He rounded out his all-purpose performance with two kick returns for 49 yards, including a long return of 28 yards to open the second half.

The Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse, now in its 11th season, is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission to honor football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung.
