Cross Country: Chiasson, Radcliff Pace Ragin’ Cajuns at LSU Invitational

Baton Rouge – Headlined by a 23rd place result by freshman Peyton Chiasson, the Louisiana Cross Country’s men’s team took 4th at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge on Friday.

The Ragin’ Cajun women failed to appear on the final leaderboard, but turned in several individual results, including a 24th place finish by freshman Abbey Marie Radcliff.

Posting a time of 21:52.82, Radcliff led the Ragin’ Cajun women across the finish line in the 5k for a second consecutive meet. She earned a team-best 35th place finish at the Rice Invitational last week.

Chiasson led the Louisiana men in the 6k with a time of 20:49.78. The Sidell native was followed by sophomore Jacob Macinkus in 30th with a time of 21:52.67 and sophomore Braden Scalisi who crossed the line in 22:10.65 to claim 31st.

On the women’s side, junior Lauren Cantrell was the second Ragin Cajun to complete the course, taking 32nd place with a time of 23:18.46. The Berwick native narrowly beat out sophomore Pierra Charles who took 33rd in 23:49.12.

In just her second collegiate race, freshman Haley Salisbury closed out the Ragin’ Cajuns’ results in 36th with a final time of 24:28.25.

At the conclusion of the meet, the top team leaderboards were identical with host LSU occupying the top spot followed by New Orleans and William Carey.

Louisiana will conclude its regular season on Oct. 16 at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas. The Ragin’ Cajuns will then shift their focus to the Sun Belt Championships on Oct. 29 in Mobile, Ala.
