Baseball: Ragin’ Cajuns pitcher Conor Angel, catcher Drake Osborn selected in 2021 MLB Draft

UL pitcher Conor Angel and catcher Drake Osborn were selected on the third and final day of the MLB Draft on Tuesday.

Angel, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound right-handed pitcher, was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 461st pick in the 15th round. Osborn, who is 5-11 and 195 pounds, was the 562nd pick in the 19th round by the New York Mets.

Before leaving the program in May to prepare for the draft, Angel had a 4.50 ERA in 12 appearances and five starts across two seasons for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He spent two seasons at Northwest Florida State College, posting a 3.29 ERA in his sophomore year.

Osborn hit .339 with three home runs in his only season with the Ragin’ Cajuns in 2021. He spent two seasons at Texas A&M Community College.

Ragin’ Cajuns pitchers Spencer Arrighetti and Connor Cooke were selected Monday.
