Baseball: How long injured Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns catcher Drake Osborn may be out of the lineupTim Buckley, The Advertiser, March 3, 2021 Drake Osborn, UL’s starting catcher, left Tuesday night’s game against Louisiana Tech with a shoulder injury. Ragin’ Cajuns coach Matt Deggs said Osborn’s left shoulder popped out of socket and later was popped back in. Deggs said he hopes Osborn will be out for only about a week or so. “We’ll just see how much that capsule stretched,” Deggs said, “and we’re gonna have to wait for the pain to subside.” It’s the same injury Osborn sustained playing last summer, according to Deggs. He got hurt reaching for a fourth-inning pitch from Cajuns starter Connor Cooke (1-2), who went 5.0 innings to get the win with one run allowed on his six hits and three walks in UL’s 7-2 win over the Bulldogs on M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field at Russo Park. More:Why Ragin’ Cajuns baseball pitcher Spencer Arrighetti left TCU Horned Frogs “Cookey kind of uncorked that one,” Deggs said, “and he (Osborn) shot up to catch it and left shoulder shot up, popped out of socket.” Osborn, a graduate transfer from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, has started seven games this season for the Cajuns (7-2). Nick Hagedorn replaced Osborn behind the plate for UL, which is scheduled to visit McNeese on Wednesday (6 p.m.).
