Athletics: UL Ragin’ Cajuns to extend contracts for five coaches, including Marlin, Deggs, GlascoTim Buckley, The Advertiser, June 23, 2021 The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors Athletic Committee will vote to approve new contract extensions for multiple UL coaches on Thursday. Women’s basketball coach Garry Brodhead, men’s basketball coach Bob Marlin, baseball coach Matt Deggs, softball coach Gerald Glasco and soccer coach Lance Key are all in line to be rewarded, according to documents obtained by The Daily Advertiser. No annual salary increases were included in the documents. But, Marlin’s contract will extend into 2024 if the Ragin’ Cajuns win a conference regular season championship, win a conference tournament championship or make the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid. Similar incentives are applied to Key and Deggs’ contracts. Both of their contracts were extended by a year to 2025. The women’s basketball team went 16-8 and made the WNIT under Brodhead last season. Marlin led the men’s team to a 17-9 record. UL softball went 47-12 under Glasco in 2021, as the Ragin’ Cajuns made the NCAA Tournament regionals. Deggs meanwhile guided the baseball team to a 32-23 record . Under Key, UL soccer went 10-9-1. Newly hired volleyball coach Kristi Gray’s contract will also be proposed to the board on Thursday. The deal lasts until 2026 and will pay Gray an annual salary of $75,000.
