LAFAYETTE – Louisiana’s Julie Mazinova was named women’s tennis player of the week by the Sun Belt Conference Thursday. This is the first time this season a player from the women’s team has won the award. She is the second Cajuns tennis player to win the award this year following Javier Pulgar’s award earlier this season.

Mazinova had her hand in six points this past week for the Cajuns, who are on a three match win streak, going 6-0 on the week. Mazinova went 3-0 in singles playing from the number two position and did not lose a set along the way. Her wins came against two conference foes Arkansas State and UALR along with Illinois State. She also teamed up with Mia Gordon in number one double and picked up three wins. Her and Gordon won by the scores of 8-2, 8-5 and 8-4.

Also named conference player of the week was Vinay Kamineni (UNO) on the men’s side.

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s tennis team is on a three match week winning streak and will attempt to keep the streak alive March 17, when they take on Northwestern State at 2 p.m.
