Women’s Tennis: Louisiana Wins Fourth Straight Match; Blanks LSUA, 4-0
Cajuns wrap up homestand on March 21 against Tulane
LAFAYETTE — In their fourth match in as many days, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns women’s tennis team made quick work of LSU Alexandria to claim a 4-0 win on Sunday at Cajun Courts.
The shutout victory extends the win streak to four matches for Louisiana, which improves to 5-6 on the season.
The tandem of Kelly Drew and Carla Ortega got the Cajuns off to a good start in doubles, not losing a game in their 6-0 victory at No. 2. Drew and Ortega are 3-0 as a doubles team this season after the win.
Alexandra Way and Yasmine Ansari both had efficient days for the Cajuns. First, they teamed up to clinch the doubles point for Louisiana with a 6-3 win at No. 3, improving their record as a doubles team to 3-0.
In singles play, Way put on a dominant display on Court 1, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 victory to start singles play. Later, Ansari clinched the match for the Cajuns, earning a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Abby Johnson also put on a strong performance in her 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4.
Louisiana returns to Cajun Courts on Tuesday, March 21, when it takes on No. 42-ranked Tulane. The match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and admission is free.
