Women’s Tennis: Louisiana Claims First Victory This Season, Bests Grambling, 6-0
Box Score
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Women’s Tennis team cruised past Grambling beating the Tigers, 6-0 at Cajun Courts on Saturday morning. This is the first time since beating Jackson State, 7-0 that the team won every singles match.
Due to the impending rain, the Louisiana coaching staff decided to play the singles matches followed by doubles.
Dana Radovanovic dominated in today’s match and was the first player off the court beating Paige Stanford, 6-1, 6-1. Floriane Picaut also had a convincing victory beating Grambling’s No. 1 singles player, 6-1, 6-0.
Following Radovanovic and Picaut leaving the court, there was a rain delay that lasted around two hours. Going into the delay, the Ragin’ Cajuns claimed a lead in every singles match.
Following the delay, Louisiana didn’t waste anytime. Hoda Habib won, 6-1, 6-1, and sophomore newcomer Angel Santiago and freshman Lucie Raquin both took home their first career victories.
Louisiana clinched the team win when Mariona Perez Noguera beat her opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
Doubles matches were not played because the Ragin’ Cajuns swept the singles matches. Louisiana will be back in play on Sunday, Jan. 19 when it hosts Prairie View A&M for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
