Women’s Tennis: Cajuns Pick Up Two Championships at Pepsi Challenge

LAFAYETTE- Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s tennis team claimed two bracket
championships at the Acadiana Bottling Pepsi Challenge on Sunday.

Tammy Day defeated Southeastern Louisiana’s Emilija Arnaudovska 7-6(2), 6-4
to win the championship of the black singles draw bracket.

The win marked her first winner’s bracket championship of the fall season.
She won the blue draw singles consolation championship at the Ole Miss Fall
Classic on Sept. 17.

Chanell Meijer was defeated by Louisiana Tech’s Monica Kelly 1-6, 6-3, 10-6
in the championship round of the singles black draw consolation bracket.

Day and Meijer claimed the red doubles draw championship after defeating
Southeastern Louisiana’s Breda Kovac and Arnaudovska.

The win was the pair’s first doubles championship of the fall.

The Pepsi Challenge ended the Cajuns Fall 2006 season.

Doubles Red Draw Championship- Tammy Day and Chanell Meijer (UL) d. Breda
Kovac and EMilija Arnaudovska (SEL) 8-6.
