BATON ROUGE – Louisiana junior guard
Troi Swain earned this week’s state college player of the week honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Swain had a season-high 23 points to lead the Ragin’ Cajuns in an 86-77 win over Southeastern Louisiana. Swain followed that performance up by scoring 23 points in an 80-72 win over Louisiana Tech.
Against SLU, Swain shot 8-for-13 from the floor including 5-for-8 from the three-point line. Swain added two rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Cajuns.
Against Louisiana Tech, Swain shot 8-for-15 from the floor while going 4-for-11 from beyond the arc. Swain added three rebounds, four assists and two steals to help the Cajuns win only their second game against the Lady Techsters in a series dating back to 1976.
Louisiana will begin Sun Belt Conference play when it travels to face Little Rock on Thursday, Dec. 29 in Little Rock, Ark. The Cajuns then travel to take on Arkansas State on Saturday, Dec. 31 in Jonesboro, Ark.
