Veal averaged 18.5 points with four steals, two assists and a blocked shot in a pair of wins last week against Georgia State and Georgia Southern

BATON ROUGE, La. — For the second time in three weeks and third time this season, Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns senior guard Keke Veal was named LSWA Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday.

Veal started in both victories last week against Georgia State and Georgia Southern, helping the Cajuns (20-9, 13-7 SBC) clinch the No. 3 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. She averaged a team-high 18.5 points in 62 total minutes of action. She shot 41.7% (15-of-36) from the floor and pulled down an average of 3.0 rebounds per game. She also came up with four steals, two assists and a blocked shot.

She scored a team-high 20 points against Georgia State (65-60 win) this past Thursday, hitting three treys and adding three assists on the defensive end. In a 56-49 win over Georgia Southern last Saturday, Veal added a team-high 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor. With her four steals last week, she needs just 10 more to move into second place on the Cajuns’ all-time list. She enters this week with 252 steals in her career at UL.

Veal was named LSWA Player of the Week on Jan. 6 and Feb. 23 earlier this season.

The Cajuns take on No. 6 seeded UT Arlington in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament this Wednesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. from Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
