Women’s Basketball: Arceneaux Picks Up All-Sun Belt HonorsNEW ORLEANS, La. After helping lead the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns women s basketball team to their most wins since 2006-07, sophomore Brooklyn Arceneaux was named to the All-Sun Belt third team, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Arceneaux led the Cajuns in both points and rebounds in the regular season, averaging 10.5 points with 5.3 rebounds in 28 games, and 13.2 points with 6.2 rebounds in conference games.
We are very excited for [Arceneaux], head coach Garry Brodhead said. She played very well after sitting out a year and responded well into our system. She continues to work hard and improve and we are very proud of the fact that she made the team.
[Arceneaux] is a very good player for us who works hard with the ball and fills the void inside, Brodhead added. She has the ability to cause mismatches for the team and has helped her teammates improve in practice as well.
Arceneaux became the first all-conference selection under Brodhead at Louisiana and the first since Mercedes Johnson was named to the Sun Belt s second team in 2010-11.
The Cajuns will open up play in the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Championships on Wednesday when they take on Western Kentucky at 6 p.m. at the New Orleans Lakefront Arena.
