Volleyball: Alumni Prove Victorious in Annual Alumni Match

Alumni win 3-1 over Current Lady Cajuns

The Lady Cajun Alumni still have it! With 8 alumni on the roster the present Ragin’ Cajuns could not hold off the supremacy of Kim Morvant, Pri Lima, Elina Salomaki, Carman West, Hollie Girouard, Stacey Liverett, Meredith Hebert, and current UL Head Coach Amy Kraljev. The Alumni match was held Saturday, March 31.

All four games were action packed with the alumni starting out slow and showing signs of rust in game one. Once they warmed-up, the former players managed to find their groove and pulled out the last three sets. The current Cajun roster was 7 deep with Erika Castro, Kendra Hall, Liz Inman, Tara Cote, Rachel Mauti, Teryn Clause, Jamara Saad and Brooke Nyland.

Following the match past and present players, parents, and friends of Ragin’ Cajuns Volleyball gathered for a tailgate reception. All who arrived with an appetite were treated to Seafood Gumbo. Coach Kraljev commented, “this was the most competitive and largest attened alumni match in several years, we are really looking forward to building this event bigger and better each year!.”

Ragin Cajuns Host Clinic for the Northwestern High School Raiders Volleyball Team

The Ragin Cajuns Volleyball team took time out of their schedule to give back to the community on Saturday, March 31. The squad spent three hours with the Northwest High School Raiders Volleyball team teaching 9-12 graders the fundamentals of volleyball. Players taught the students volleyball fundamentals such as serving and passing as well as important lessons on teamwork, sportsmanship and enjoying the game.

After the clinic, the players signed autographs for the students and posed for photos. Coach Kraljev said of the event, “each a nd everyone of the Northwest High student athletes worked very hard and were very enthusiastic which put a smile on the faces of all involved. The event was a true success.”
