University: Where to find the new Ragin’ Cajuns ale on tap

Fans of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette have a new way to show support for the home team with Ragin’ Cajuns Genuine Louisiana Ale.

The craft beer is the result of a partnership between UL and Bayou Teche Brewing in Arnaudville and will be available at Ragin’ Cajun home games, Downtown Alive! and a number of businesses in Acadiana.

A bottled version of the ale will also be introduced in time for UL’s 70th homecoming celebration on Oct. 31.

The beer was inspired by a Louisiana staple, rice, and has a balance of hop bitterness, taste and aroma, according to Karlos Knott, president of Bayou Teche.

"Ça va mieux avec des amis" is the slogan of the beer, which translates from French to "It goes better with friends."

The ale is the latest in UL’s successful food and drink line that includes Ragin’ Red seasonings, Ragin’ Cajuns Strong Championship Blend coffee by Mello Joy and the Ragin’ Cajun Burger sold at area Sonic Drive-Ins.

A portion of the proceeds from the beer sales will be used to support UL’s academic, research and athletic programs, according to UL spokesman Aaron Martin.
