University Graduates Have Outstanding Year as Prep Basketball Coaches – Three State Championships

It has been an outstanding year for three university graduates, as all three were head basketball coaches of Lafayette Parish Teams which won state championships. Danny Broussard, St. Thomas More; Byron Starks, Lafayette Christian Academy; and Christopher Kovatch, Carencro High School all won state championship earlier this month.

Additionally, two other UL grads – Wesley Cortese is Danny Broussard’s assistant coach and La’Ryan Gary is Christopher Kovatch’s assistant.

Since the state championship games, Byron Starks has accepted another coaching position and will be the first Men’s Basketball Coach at LSU-E.
