UL stars to appear at cancer benefit

Former UL kicker Brett Baer and wide receiver Harry Peoples will be among a group of Cajun players signing autographs to benefit the family of 4-year-old Cale Langlinais, who has been battle leukemia since 2010.

The event will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at Black’s Oyster Bar in Abbeville. The Abbeville Fire Department and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are also teaming up for the event in hopes of raising $50,000 to have a research grant named after Langlinais, who is the son of Chad and Jenee Langlinais of Delcambre and Erath.

The minimum donation is $20 per person to pass through the line. Pictures at the fire station will be available after the autograph session.

For more information on the benefit, contact Beau Barras at 280-4549 or at bbarras@cityofabbeville.net or Brian Campbell at Campbell@louisiana.edu.
