UL Radio coverage expandsSpecial to the AdvertiserChange is in store for radio coverage of Ragin’ Cajun football — in the booth, and on the air. While Jay Walker will call his 21st season of radio play-by-play, analyst Steve Peloquin will move to the sideline for his 10th season. Peloquin will be replaced in the booth by Gerald Broussard, a former Cajun player and assistant coach. On the air, coverage will expand from 30 minutes to two hours before kickoff. The first hour of the pregame show, to be heard on flagship station KPEL 1420 AM, will feature interviews with Cajun offensive coordinator Jay Johnson and defensive coordinator Greg Stewart. A preview of play around the Sun Belt Conference, scoring updates from around the country and a conversation with that game’s opponent play-by-play voice also will be featured. The second hour, to be broadcast by each of the Cajuns’ seven network stations, will feature an interview with head coach Mark Hudspeth, an interview with that game’s opponent head coach, an opponent scouting report, scoring updates, an injury report and analysis. Additionally, an expanded postgame show will feature highlights and stats as well as an early scouting report on UL’s next opponent. Scott Prather will produce both the pregame and postgame shows. Broussard played in the early 1980’s for former head coach Sam Robertson. He was a graduate assistant under Robertson, spent 13 seasons as an assistant under Nelson Stokley from 1986-98 and was an assistant for Rickey Bustle from 2008-10. Broussard has also worked as an assistant coach at schools including West Alabama, Tennessee-Martin, McNeese State and Stephen F. Austin
