Track: Lemaire, Bonvillain named to LSWA state team

ON THE FLY

Distance runner Justin Lemaire is one of only two Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns included on this year’s All-Louisiana Track and Field Team selected by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and announced on Monday.
Lemaire, a former Kaplan High standout, posted a season-best time of 32:51.27 at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in May at UL’s Cajun Track. That time led all runners among state colleges for 2006.

Ragin’ Cajun women’s standout Andree Bonvillain posted an 11-11 clearance in the pole vault that was good enough for second place on the honor roll.

Abbeville High product Roland LeBlanc is one of several LSU performers named to the team, after his 8:47.36 time led all runners in the 3,000-meter run last season.
Also, Cecilia High-ex Reginald Dardar of LSU is ranked third in the state in the 400-meter dash with a time of 45.86.

On the women’s team, LSU’s Kate Accardo of Hanson Memorial has the best 3,000-meter time of 10:15.72 and is second in the 3,000 steeplechase in 11:39.09.

Former Comeaux High star Sarah Colosimo of LSU is No. 2 in the 5,000 in 18:07.49.
