Final tuneup for Louisiana before Sun Belt Championships

BATON ROUGE – Jonathan Kimutai recorded a first-place finish in the men’s 1,500-meter run while the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team recorded 13 personal-bests on Saturday during the LSU Invitational at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
 
Ally McCulleyClaire Meyers, Reagan LeMaire and Zach Lewis each posted second-place finishes for Louisiana, which was making its final tuneup before competing at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships on May 10-12.
 
Kimutai, who recorded the Ragin’ Cajuns lone first-place finish of the day, crossed the finish line in 4:01.31 as Louisiana posted a 1-3-4 finish in the event with Stanley Limoh (4:02.81) finishing third and Key Alfred (4:10.55) fourth. LeMaire earned a second-place finish in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:20.28) for Louisiana with Lewis (52-0 ½) and Dominique Williams (48-9 ½) finishing second and third overall in the shot put.
 
Meyers (146-3) and MacKenzie Marze (137-9) finished second and third in the women’s javelin for Louisiana with McCulley (20:13.52) and Alexa Breaux(20:45.41) finishing second and third overall in the women’s 5,000-meters.
 
Tyler Hughes (14.09) and Chandler Mixon (14.67) each recorded personal-bests for Louisiana in the men’s 110-meter hurdles with Solomon Brent earning a PR in the men’s 800-meters (1:55.04). Freshman Rylan Theyard recorded a personal-best in the men’s triple jump (47-2 ½) while tying a personal-record in the high jump (6-7).
 
Franz Beyer earned a third-place finish in the men’s discus for Louisiana, setting a personal-best in the process (137-4) with freshman John Joseph setting a PR in the long jump (23-11 ½).
 
Freshman Reagann Leleux clocked a personal-best time (12.17) in the women’s 100-meter dash for the Ragin’ Cajuns with Erica Stewart (25.27) setting a PR in the 200-meters and India Brown (57.08) in the 400.
 
Jayla Stevenson-Collins (149-1) and Maliya Crouch (142-8) each set personal-bests in the women’s hammer throw for Louisiana with Helena Tibbsrecording a PR in the women’s triple jump (38-11 ½) and freshman Kaprecia Cowans in the women’s long jump (18-8).
