Track & Field: Six Cajuns Headed To NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East PreliminaryJACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Six members of the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team, including Sun Belt Conference champions Morgann Leleux, Alena Hrusoci and Bartul Basic, will compete this week as the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary begins on Thursday at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida. The three-day meet is the opening round of the NCAA Championship event and features the Top 48 ranked athletes in 38 individual events as well as four relay competitions. The top 12 performers in each event advance to the NCAA Championships on June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com. Franz Beyer (men’s high jump), Hanoj Carter (men’s 200-meter dash) and freshman Kyle Baudoin (men’s pole vault) round out the Ragin’ Cajuns contingent looking to advance to the NCAA Championships. The action begins on Thursday as Baudoin, ranked 12th on the NCAA East Qualifying List, will begin competition at 3:30 p.m. CT. Hrusoci, the SBC champion in the 400-meter hurdles and ranked 15th in the NCAA East Region, will run in the preliminaries at 3:30 p.m. ET. Basic, the SBC champion in the men’s javelin and ranked 29th on the NCAA East Qualifying List, will compete on Friday at 11 a.m. with Leleux, the SBC champion and ranked No. 4 on the NCAA National List, scheduled to compete at 4 p.m. Carter, ranked 44th on the NCAA East Qualifying List, will compete in the 200-meter preliminaries on Thursday at 7:25 p.m. CT, with Beyer, ranked 40th, competing in the men’s high jump on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
