Track & Field: Leleux, Hrusoci Look To Secure Olympic Berths On Friday

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field student-athletes Morgann Leleux and Alena Hrusoci will look to punch their respective tickets to the 2016 Summer Olympic Games when they each compete in qualifying meets beginning Friday.

Leleux, who finished second overall in the women’s pole vault last month at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, will compete in qualifying action on Friday at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore. In her one season with the Ragin’ Cajuns, Leleux shattered the school and Sun Belt Conference record with a mark of 14-10.
 
The New Iberia, La., native will compete in the opening flight at 5 p.m. CDT and will look to advance to the finals, scheduled for Sunday at 4:30 p.m. CDT.
 
The U.S. Olympic Trials are aired on NBC and NBC Sports Network. The USATF will also be providing live online coverage at USATF.tv for fans with a subscription to USATF.TV�PLUS services.
 


Hrusoci, competing for her native Croatia, will compete in the women’s 400-meter hurdles at the European Athletics Championships on Friday in Amsterdam. Hrusoci, the current school-record holder, will compete in the first heat of the event on Friday at 7:15 a.m. CDT and will look to advance to the semifinals that are set for Saturday at 1:10 p.m. CDT.
