Track & Field: Headed To Eugene – Ragin’ Cajuns Qualify For NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s track and field 4×100-meter relay team qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday after posting a time of 39.89 seconds to finish 10th overall on the final day of the NCAA East Preliminary at Hodges Stadium.
 
The team of Tyler Hughes, Hanoj Carter, Devin Davis and Jeryl Brazil was one of 12 teams competing in the East Regional to punch its ticket to the NCAA Track and Field Championships, scheduled for June 10-13 at the University of Oregon’s historic Hayward Field.
 
Carter, a Shreveport native, nearly earned a slot in the 100-meter dash after finishing 13th overall with a time of 10.45. The sprinter also competed in the 200-meter dash where he recorded a time of 21.33. Brazil added a time of 10.59 seconds in the 100-meter dash while Morgan Cormier posted a time of 54.27 in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
Justin Victor earned a 14th-place finish in the men’s hammer throw after recording a mark of 210 feet, 4 inches with Davis finishing 19th in the long jump (24-1 ¾) and Dionte Heath (6-8 ¼) and William LeBlanc (6-6 ¼) competing in the high jump.
 
Tia Mitchell, one of two Ragin’ Cajuns to compete in the women’s long jump, posted a mark of 19-2 in her final meet with Stacy Imagbe posting a mark of 18-3 ¾. Madalyn Trisler, competing in the women’s high jump, cleared the bar at 5-5 in her final meet.
