Morrow finishes second in heptathlon to crack top-five mark in school history
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field athletes Sven Glueck and Frankie Griffin each claimed individual titles with Alex Morrow and Jonathan Kimutai claiming second-place finishes in their respective events to lead the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team at the Bobcat Invitational on Friday at the Bobcat Track and Field Stadium. The final day of the three-day event will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m., with the women’s javelin before running events start at 3 p.m. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com. Glueck claimed the men’s decathlon for Louisiana, scoring 6,637 points to record the seventh-best total in the event in school history. The German opened the day with a win in the 110-meter hurdles (15.23) while wrapping up the final two events with second-place finishes in the javelin (142-11) and 1,500-meter run (4:51.91). Freshman Chandler Mixon earned a third-place finish in the decathlon for the Ragin’ Cajuns, claiming first-place honors in the pole vault (14-7) and finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.33). Griffin, a freshman who entered the meet ranked No. 5 in the Sun Belt Conference in the women’s high jump, cleared the bar at 5-7 to claim first-place honors for the Ragin’ Cajuns while posting the fifth-best mark in school history. Morrow set a personal-best in the women’s heptathlon for Louisiana, scoring 4,674 points and posting the fifth-best mark in Ragin’ Cajuns history. The senior posted personal-bests in both the long jump (17-9) and 800-meter run (2:30.40) to finish behind Madison Miles of Incarnate Word (4,797). Kimutai and Stanley Limoh helped Louisiana to a 2-3 finish in the men’s 1,500-meter run with Kimutai recording a time of 3:55.78 with Limoh following in 3:56.07. Dylan Heck was one of two Ragin’ Cajuns to finish in the top seven in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase after finishing fifth (9:53.74) with Regan Lemaire seventh (10:08.84). In the 400-meter dash, Kemondrick Walter earned a sixth-place finish for Louisiana, crossing the finish line in 48.61 with Kyle Baudoin earning a fourth-place finish in the pole vault (16-4 ¾), Damon Guidry fifth in the high jump (6-4 ½) and Richard Delphin eighth in the hammer throw (179-1). Claire Hodges posted the top finish for Louisiana in running events after posting a time of 11:27.51 to finish fourth overall in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. Hailey Hesterman earned an eighth-place performance in the 1,500-meter run (4:41.26) while Courtney Musgrove was seventh in the 5,000-meter run (17:48.75) and Ally McCulley 11th (18:09.27). Vanessa Joseph posted a time of 1:03.72 for Louisiana to finish ninth overall in the women’s 400-meter hurdles.
