Track & Field: Carter, Rice Pace Ragin’ Cajuns At A-State Invitational

JONESBORO, Ark. – Hanoj Carter and Matt Rice each posted first-place finishes in their respective events and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team concluded action on Saturday at the A-State Invitational at the ASU Convocation Center.
 
Stanley Limoh, Jeryl Brazil and Dylan Heck each posted second-place performances for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the two-day meet. Amie Leitko, Taylor Walker and Lindsay LaGarde each recorded third-place finishes for Louisiana, which was competing in its third event of the indoor season.
 
Carter, competing in the men’s 200-meter dash for the Ragin’ Cajuns, posted the second-fastest time in the Sun Belt Conference this season after clocking a time of 21.62. Rice led a 1-2 finish for Louisiana after the senior clocked a personal-best time of 8:28.51 in the men’s 3,000-meter run to earn first-place honors, edging Limoh (8:28.75) by .24 seconds.
 
Brazil (6.39) finished second overall in the men’s 200-meter dash while Heck clocked a time of 15:49.03 in the men’s 3,000-meter run. Richard Delphin (Men’s Weight Throw, 55-5), Damon Guidry (High Jump, 6-9 ¾), Kyle Baudoin (Men’s Pole Vault, 16-9 ¼) and Ricky Theyard (Men’s Triple Jump, 47-5 ¼) each posted third-place finishes in field events for Louisiana with John-Paul Bergeron (1:57.55) earning a third-place finish in the 800-meters.
 
Leitko recorded a throw of 54-8 ¼ in the women’s weight throw to finish third with Walker finishing third in the triple jump (38-3 ¼). LaGarde clocked a time of 10:24.18 in the 3,000-meters to finish third for Louisiana with Courtney Broussard (2:25.86) finishing fourth in the 800-meter run.
 
Louisiana will return to action on Friday (Feb. 3) when it competes in the LSU Bayou Bengal at Carl Maddox Fieldhouse in Baton Rouge.
