BATON ROUGE – Jeryl Brazil established a new school-record in the men’s indoor 60-meter dash, shattering his previous mark set two years ago, to lead the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team on Friday at the LSU Bayou Bengal at Carl Maddox Field House.

Brazil, who set the record of 6.70 seconds in 2016 before posting a time of 6.71 in the season-opener last month at the LSU Purple Tiger, clocked a time of 6.55 seconds to post the second-fastest time in the country this season.

Brazil’s mark was one of six top-five finishes for Louisiana, which was making one of its final tuneups before competing in the Sun Belt Conference Championships later this month in Birmingham, Ala. The Ragin’ Cajuns received a pair of top-four finishes in the men’s pole vault with Kyle Baudoin finishing second overall (16-2 ¾) and Matthew Standridge placing fourth (14-9).

Tyler Hughes clocked a time of 8.06 in the men’s 60-meter hurdles to finish fourth overall for Louisiana with George Femmer (2:02.10) and Logan LaGarde (2:02.48) finishing seventh and ninth overall in the men’s 800-meters.

Dominique Williams recorded a mark of 57-9 ¾ in the weight throw to finish seventh overall for the Ragin’ Cajuns with teammate Richard Delphin (57-8 ¼) placing ninth.

Kimberly Rushford and Alexa Johnson each finished fourth overall for Louisiana in the women’s pole vault (11-4 ½) with Hannah Siegmund posting a time of 59.56 to finish fifth in the 400-meter dash.

Louisiana will travel to Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday to compete at the Jaguar Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
