Senior Jasmine Anderson advanced to Saturday’s NCAA East Quarterfinals after clocking a time of 13.79 on Friday at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind.

Senior Jasmine Anderson secured a spot in the women’s 100-meter quarterfinals at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary after snatching an at-large berth Friday at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex in Bloomington, Ind.

Anderson ran a time of 13.79, placing fourth in the heat. Her sprint was the third best at-large time, giving her a berth to Saturday’s quarterfinals.

The Hammond native only needs to place in the top three of her heat to advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa next month. The women’s 100-meter quarterfinal races will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

In the women’s triple jump, Jasmine Manuel narrowly missed a trip to Des Moines. Manuel’s leap of 41-1 ½ (12.53m) was just an inch shy of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. The junior placed 14th overall out of 47 competitors.

O’Daylon Thibeaux cleared a distance of 49-3 ¾ (15.03m) in the men’s triple jump to make the final cut and place 23rd in the event.  Thibeaux did not qualify for the national semifinals.

Also competing on Saturday will be Jacob Domingue in the men’s discus throw. In April, the senior from Erath recorded a personal-best toss of 173-6 at the NSU Invitational. The event is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start time.

Live results and video of Saturday’s NCAA East Preliminary will be available online at NCAA.com.
