LAFAYETTE-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team announced the addition of Pat Arceneaux on Wednesday. Arceneaux, who will serve as a volunteer assistant coach for the team, brings with him 30 years of experience at the high school ranks.

“Coach Arceneaux will be a great addition to our present coaching staff,” head coach Steve Silvey said.
Arceneaux will assist with throwing events and the pole vault for the Cajuns.
In 2006, Arceneaux was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Louisiana Track and Field Coaches Association.
In 2002, he coached the Breaux Bridge High School boys’ cross country team to a Louisiana 3A state championship. His cross country team was the 3A state runner-up in 1999.
He coached current UL track and field freshman Chris Roy. Roy won a state championship in the pole vault at the 2007 Louisiana 3A State Meet.
Arceneaux has coached 38 All-State athletes and four All-Americans at the high-school level.
He served as an assistant coach for six years under former Ragin’ Cajuns head coach Bob Cole.
Arceneaux is a former UL track and field athlete.
