Contact: Jeff Schneider

GRAFTON, Australia – Brothers Jake and Jarred Wynan of the Ragin’ Cajuns men’s tennis team grabbed the main draw doubles championship at the 2013 Grafton Platinum AMT tournament this past weekend.

“To win a Platinum event which is the highest level below the futures level is a great achievement,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “Jake and Jarred have really done the program proud and gives us a lot of confidence as a team going into the Fall.”

The duo did not drop a set en route to the title winning the final against Calum Puttergill and Ryan Sevil, 6-4, 6-1.

"I think that both our doubles games have improved and changed a lot since before college, which was the last time we played together,” Jake said. “It’s encouraging to see that we do work really well together now and I think we could do some damage for the team this year."

“I think we both played pretty solid doubles during the whole tournament,” Jarred said, “To win a Platinum tournament without dropping a set I thought was pretty good. It’s good to have this win as it was our last tournament here in Australia before we head back over to the states. Ending our summer on this high was great.”

The Wynans faced their toughest challenge in the semifinal with a 7-6(6), 6-4 victory over the team of Mark Draper and Mitchell Harper.

Jake and Jarred reached the semifinals after wins against the teams of Lex Abram/Stuart Mackenzie, 6-0, 6-4, and Vini Giufre/Lachlan Mcphee, 6-3, 6-2.
