LAFAYETTE-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns Piotrek Banas and Shaun Ellison were both named First Team All-Louisiana Men’s Tennis Team by the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association. 

 

Banas amassed a 12-4 singles record to go along with his 8-5 doubles mark, while Ellison finished the year 15-5 in singles and 10-7 in doubles. 

 

Banas played primarily at the No. 1 singles spot earning a 12-4 record on the year.  He had an 8-5 record playing in either the No. 1 or No. 2 doubles spot.  Banas won seven of his first nine singles matches and five of his last six matches.  He had two five-match winning streaks during the course of the season.

 

Ellison played in 20 singles matches on the year, finishing with 15 wins.  He won double digit matches in doubles as well.  Ellison was primarily the Cajuns’ No. 3 singles player and he won 11 of his final 13 matches.  He had a five-match winning streak on the year and finished the season with four straight victories.

 

Banas and Ellison were joined on the first team by a trio of Louisiana State players, Ken Skupski, Danny Bryan and Jan Zelezny, as well as, Vladimir Paunic of Southeastern Louisiana.
