Reading In Red

LAFAYETTE — University of Louisiana at Lafayette student-athletes from all 16 Division I sports will be participating in a bus tour to promote literacy and give back to local elementary schools on April 20-23, 2015.  Student-athletes will be visiting 15 elementary schools throughout the Acadiana area, and reading "The Little Engine That Could" and "Goodnight Acadiana" to the elementary school students.

Schools being visited this semester include: Ascension Episcopal School, Cathedral Carmel School, S.J. Montgomery Elementary, St. Genevieve Catholic School, Holy Family Catholic School, Sts. Leo-Seton Catholic School, J Wallace James Elementary, Woodvale Elementary, Plantation Elementary, Alice Boucher World Languages Academy, Our Lady of Fatima School, and Prairie Elementary School.

Student-athletes hope that the tour will spark greater interest in reading, leadership and athletics, encouraging elementary students to develop a well-balanced lifestyle that includes equal emphasis on academics and physical activity.
