Softball: Wallace Wins Second Straight SBC Pitcher of the Week

LAFAYETTE, La. – For the second week in a row, Ragin’ Cajuns pitcher Jordan Wallace was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week. Wallace went 4-0 in three starts and one relief appearance, striking out 37 batters in 18.0 innings pitched, including a school and career-best 18 strikeouts in a seven-inning game on Sunday.

Wallace, a sophomore from Weatherford, Texas is 19-6 on the season, with a 1.87 ERA. She has anchored the Cajuns during their current 12 game winning streak, and hasn’t allowed a run in 33.0 innings pitched.

Her week was highlighted by her 18-strikeout performance on Sunday against Middle Tennessee, becoming the 31st player in NCAA history to strike out 18-or-more batters in seven-inning game.

She picked up wins in her other two starts, as well as one out of relief.

The award marks the fifth time this season a member of the Ragin’ Cajuns won a conference award, and the seventh time in Wallace’s career she was given the honor.

Wallace and the Cajuns will look to continue their 12 game winning streak on Wednesday, when Houston comes to Lamson Park for a nonconference doubleheader.
