Softball: Wallace Wins Fourth Pitcher of the Week Award

Wallace Wins Fourth Pitcher of the Week Award

LAFAYETTE, La. – After starting all three games in a weekend sweep of ULM, Ragin’ Cajuns sophomore pitcher Jordan Wallace was named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week, for the week of April 29-May 5.  Wallace tossed 13.0 innings, going 2-0 with 19 strikeouts and a 1.62 ERA.

This is the fourth time this season that she has won the Pitcher of the Week award and the eighth time in her young career.

The Weatherford, Texas native has been the ace of the Cajuns’ pitching staff this season, winning 26 games and posting a 1.76 ERA in 191.1 innings.  She has fanned 302 batters, becoming just the fifth Cajun in history to reach the 300-strikeout mark, and is the first since Ashley Brignac did so in 2008 (327).

Wallace’s honor marks her fourth of the season and the seventh for a member of the Ragin’ Cajuns in 2013.

Wallace and the Cajuns will look to continue their success at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament when they take on Florida International on Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. in Troy, Alabama.
