UL’s sophomore catcher Lexie Elkins and Northwestern State’s Brianna Rodriguez have been named the LSWA Co-Player of the Week, while McNeese State’s Jamie Allred was named the Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this year.

Elkins and Allred will likely be facing one another at Lamson Park for a 6 p.m. Wednesday contest.

Elkins had another solid week, leading the Ragin’ Cajuns to a series victory over No. 15 South Alabama at Lamson Park. Elkins picked up two hits in each game including a pair of home runs, while driving in six. She drove in the game-tying run in the series opener and the game winning runs in the series finale, to help propel the Cajuns to victory.

Rodriguez led the Lady Demons at the plate this weekend as NSU captured the series win over Central Arkansas. Her .727 average and .750 on base percentage allowed her to pick up five RBI off eight hits, including the lone homer in game two. Rodriguez drove in two runs off three hits on Sunday to aid in the win.

Allred went 3-0 last week earning wins over LSU and Incarnate Word. The 2-1 win at LSU is her third win against an SEC opponent this season, as Allred went on to pick up two shutout wins against Incarnate Word in the SLC series win on the weekend. Allred pitched 20.0 innings, gave up one unearned run to finish with an ERA of 0.00 and 10 hits. She struck out 21 batters including 11 strikeouts against Incarnate Word in the opening game of the SLC series.
