Softball: Tankersley Named All-South Region

Ragin’ Cajuns softball player Holly Tankersley was named to the 2007 All-
South Region first team.

LAFAYETTE-The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced their 2007
South All-Region First and Second Teams and Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns
softball player Holly Tankersley was named to the first team. 

This is the second NFCA All-South Region honor for Tankersley, as she
garnered the award in her freshman year in 2004. 

The junior designated player leads the team in virtually every offensive
category. 

Tankersley, a USA Softball Top 25 Finalist for Player of the Year, leads the
team in batting average (.405), home runs (18), RBI (61), slugging percentage
(.746) and on-base percentage (.517). 

Tankersley is currently third all-time in UL history with 48 career home
runs, 111 walks and 24 hit-by-pitches. 

She has also compiled a 12-5 record in the pitching circle for the Cajuns in
2007. 

Joining Tankersley on the first team are: Monica Abbott (Tennessee), Chrissy
Owens (Alabama), Killian Roessner (Louisiana State), Tonya Callahan
(Tennessee), Lauren Parker (Alabama), Brooke Marnitz (Kentucky), Kelley
Montalvo (Alabama), Chelsea Bramlett (Mississippi State), Lindsay Schutzler
(Tennessee), India Chiles (Tennessee) and Brittany Rogers (Alabama). 

Tankersley and the Ragin’ Cajuns will compete in the 2007 NCAA Tournament in
College Station, Texas.  The Cajuns first game is slated for 1:00 p.m. on
Friday, May 18 against Houston.
