The American Softball Association (ASA) announced its Top 25 Finalists for the 2011 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year on Wednesday, with Christi Orgeron finding her name on the list.

Orgeron, a junior outfielder for the Cajuns, is one of seven players on the Top 25 list that was not on the Preseason Top 50 list.  The New Orleans native is one of six juniors on the Top 25 list.

Orgeron currently leads the Cajuns and the Sun Belt with a .440 batting average, 60 RBI and 46 runs scored.  Her 1.58 RBI per game leads the nation while her 15 home runs is sixth nationally.  Her .968 slugging percentage also ranks in the Top 10 while her five triples rank third.

Orgeron was a Preseason All-Sun Belt selection and has won two LSWA Hitter of the Week awards along with one Sun Belt Player of the Week honor in 2011.

The Top 25 list will be trimmed to 10 finalists on May 11, and then to three on May 25 before a winner of the 2011 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award is announced on May 31.  The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award is considered the most prestigious award in collegiate softball.
