For the fourth consecutive week, a Ragin’ Cajun has been chosen as the LSWA Hitter or Pitcher of the Week. This week, LSWA Hitter of the Week honors have been given to Christi Orgeron thanks to her stellar performance at the Citrus Classic last weekend. The award comes a day after Orgeron was chosen as the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday. The junior outfielder has continued to roll as she has hit safely in all 20 of the Cajuns (18-2) games thus far this season, including posting an RBI in 17 of the 20. Orgeron was the difference in the Cajuns’ win over No.3/1 Alabama at the Citrus Classic, hitting a solo home run off of the Crimson Tide’s ace Kelsi Dunne in UL’s 1-0 victory. She hit two home runs against Temple with five RBI the following day in a UL run-rule victory. She capped off her weekend with a two-run bomb in the seventh inning of ULL’s 4-0 win over Long Island on Sunday. In other news on Tuesday, both Top 25 polls were released with the Cajuns climbing in one. In the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, the Cajuns climbed from 18th a week ago, to 16th on Tuesday. In the USA Today/NFCA poll, UL held steady at 17th. The Cajuns return to action this weekend when they open Sun Belt Conference play at North Texas. UL will travel to Denton for a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. and a single game on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. — Ragin’ Cajuns —
