SETTING THE SCENE
For the first time in nearly one month, the 7th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball squad seeks to take the field on its own home turf of Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (16-6) are scheduled to face Sam Houston State (9-15) in a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday, March 11 at Lamson Park, beginning a five-game homestand which continues over the weekend with a Sun Belt Conference series against Appalachian State.

Louisiana was scheduled to play at Lamson Park last Wednesday vs. Campbell, however rain canceled the contest. As a result, the squad’s most recent series of road outings was extended to 14 consecutive, as Sun Belt play began on the road last weekend at Coastal Carolina.

It was an extremely productive time away from home for the Ragin’ Cajuns, though, who gained splits with Oklahoma State and Texas, swept Ole Miss and won a weekend series at Florida – all results which should have a positive impact on the team’s NCAA postseason resume.

Gerry Glasco‘s squad last competed at home on Feb. 15 when a 2-1 win over then-No. 7 Louisiana State marked his 100th career collegiate coaching victory.

The Ragin’ Cajuns carry a five-game win streak at Lamson Park into Wednesday’s twinbill with SHSU. Louisiana sports a 7-1 mark at its home field in 2020.

Fans can view a live webstream of the game by visiting RaginCajuns.com/Watch or listen through SportsRadio ESPN 1420-AM or the ESPN 1420 mobile app.
