Sophomore catcher hit six home runs and posted 15 RBI during the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational, going 9-for-15 with eight extra base hits.

LAFAYETTE – An explosive performance at the plate during the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational has landed Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Softball sophomore catcher Lexie Comeaux this week’s Louisiana Sportswriters Association (LSWA) Softball Hitter of the Week award.

Comeaux hit six home runs and posted 15 RBI during the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational, going 9-for-15 with eight extra base hits. She exited the weekend on a five-game home run hitting streak and had at least one RBI each outing including a trio of four-RBI showings.

It’s the first career weekly honor for Comeaux who is in her first year as a starter for Louisiana. She joins freshman pitcher Alyssa Denham, the February Pitcher of the Month, as Ragin’ Cajuns honored by the LSWA this season.

LSU’s Allie Walljasper took home pitcher of the week honors. Walljasper pitched 13 innings with two complete games and just one earned run with six strikeouts in the Tiger tournament this past weekend.

Below is a capsule of Comeaux’s performance last week:
