LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Athletics has entered into an agreement with Global Synthetics to have Geo-Surfaces install artificial turf at Lamson Park, the longtime home of the Ragin’ Cajuns Softball program.

Already one of the most impressive home field atmospheres in all of college softball, the upgraded surface will enhance Lamson Park’s drainage system and durability to allow increased practice and game usage.

"We are thrilled that the University and our athletics department have chosen to further upgrade our already outstanding facility," head coach Gerry Glasco said. "The commitment continually shown to Louisiana Softball is absolutely phenomenal. This particular project is just another tangible way that our team and recruits can see the support our administration places in maintaining one of the top softball programs in the country."

Site work will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 6. In addition to installing a large portion of the turf fields across the state of Louisiana, Geo Surfaces has worked with Louisiana Athletics on various projects in the past.

"It’s exciting to see this new addition to our field for my final season as a Ragin’ Cajun," senior catcher Lexie Comeaux said. "Lamson Park has changed so much since my freshman year, but the best fans in the country continue to make it an awesome atmosphere to play in year after year. I take so much pride in and am so grateful for all of the first-class features that have been added and continue to be added to make Lamson Park even better than it already is."

Slated to be complete in January, the new surface at Lamson Park will cover the outfield, foul ball areas and the right field bullpen. A new warning track area will be added that will be a different color and consistency of turf. Additional field access points will be implemented, as well as new logos on the playing surface.

Season ticket holders may renew their seat locations online at RaginCajuns.com using Account Manager, or by calling the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office at (337) 265-2170.
